Admission to M.Sc.
Programme |
Minimum Qualification: A student seeking admission to this course must have passed B.Sc. (Hons) in Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics or any other related discipline with at least 60% marks in the main subject or B.Sc. (Gen.) Group A or Group B with at least 60% marks in aggregate. The candidates must also have completed the 10+2+3 years of formal education.
Selection Procedure: Final selection will be made on the basis of a written test based on the basic knowledge of biology, followed by an interview of short-listed candidates. The Entrance Test will be held on July 10, 2006 (Monday) from 10.00 A.M. to 12.30 P.M. in the ARTS FACULTY BUILDING, University of Delhi South Campus, Benito Juarez Road, New Delhi 110 021. Candidates satisfying the above requirements can appear in the test. Candidates whose results may not have been declared but are expecting to pass in the first division can also appear in the Test. No T.A. and D.A. will be paid.

Admission to
M.Phil./Ph.D. Programmes |
A student seeking admission to this course should have passed Master’s course in the subject concerned or in a allied subject in biological (Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology etc.) or physical (Physics, Chemistry etc.) sciences from an Indian University, with at least 55% marks in the aggregate with a good academic record or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Academic Council.
The last date for submission of application forms for M. Phil.
course is July 31, 2006.
Additional Note for M.Phil./Ph.D. Students
Although for admission to M.Phil. and Ph.D., there are no other official requirements, candidates may note that normally those candidates passing the last examination in the first division have a chance of being selected since seats for research are very limited. Further, only those who have passed the NET examination can be given fellowships. If, however, there are students who have appeared in the NET examination and are awaiting results, or are intending to appear in the next NET examination, they can also apply but a decision on fellowship will have to wait.
Candidates interested in pursuing Ph.D.
are encouraged to come personally and discuss their research interests with the
faculty members.

M.Phil. in Plant Molecular Biology
General Course Structure
The M.Phil. course is conducted in the style of seminars. The seminars may be given by the teachers, senior research scholars and the participating students, subject to overall guidance of the M.Phil. Committee. At the end of the course, theory question papers will be set on the basis of various seminars given, and the students examined in them. While, for satisfying statute requirements, a list of topics has been given for each course, it may be emphasized that a topic listed in the course may be substituted by another topic deemed to be of current interest by the Teacher-in-Charge. A candidate selected for the above programme has to take at least three courses out of the four, being offered at present. Course IV is essential.
